Piedmont offers the highest density of quality golf courses in Italy. Home to the Molinari brothers, this northern region of Italy boasts seventeen different courses, five of which are ranked among the best in the country—including Royal Park Golf, which hosted the Italian Open in 2010. Sited at a former hunting estate, Royal Park Golf was designed by Robert Trent Jones, and makes very strategic and creative use of both its waterholes and bunkers.
Another of the Piedmont’s best courses is Le Betulle Golf. The landscape here seems tailor-made to a golfer’s needs; still, designer John Morrison’s touch is evident on this masterful course. Le Betulle Golf’s oak, chestnut and birch forests give it a distinctly British feel, and the strategically-located bunkers make it a challenge for even the most skilled golfers.
